The Grierson Trust’s new entrant training scheme, Grierson DocLab is back for another year, supported by Netflix and The Rank Foundation. PLUS there’s two brand-new Netflix-supported schemes for anyone aged 18+. Introducing Grierson DocLab In Focus: Production Management and Grierson DocLab In Focus: Editing.
Grierson DocLab In Focus: Editing seeks UK-based applicants aged 18+ who have the technical know-how in Avid or Premiere Pro editing software but want to take their offline editing and factual storytelling skills to the next level.
There are eight places on both schemes and each trainee will get a paid contract (lasting up to 3 months) working on a Netflix documentary production!
The core Grierson DocLab scheme will see up to 15 UK-based new entrant trainees aged 18-25 with a passion for docs embark on an intensive programme of factual training, paid work placements at UK production companies, camera and editing training, industry mentorships and much, much more.
The Grierson Trust has an established track record of supporting under-represented groups in the factual TV industry. We therefore particularly encourage applications to all schemes from women; people with a disability; those from BAME backgrounds; people from the LGBTQ+ community; and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We also encourage candidates from geographical areas across the UK that do not have many opportunities in the screen industries to apply. This is not a definitive list and those applying will have the opportunity to make their case as to how they meet these criteria. This is in line with the positive action provision of the Equality Act 2010.
Deadline for applications to all three schemes is Friday 12 February at 5pm.
