We were shocked and saddened to read the report of the Film & TV charity's survey on the state of the mental health of people working in the UK film industry. It crystallised for us in the Post Production and Facilities branch what our core purpose is: to fight to improve the basic conditions that our friends and colleagues are working under, which will in turn improve their sense of dignity and self-respect.
Bectu has planned a demonstration on 5 October to demand that the AMPTP negotiate meaningfully and swiftly to bring the US Hollywood strikes to a close, and to raise awareness of how UK film and TV workers have been impacted. Whether you work in film and TV or not, we would love to see you there. Bring friends, family and colleagues to make our voices heard and increase pressure on the AMPTP together.
The WGA released the following negotiations update on Sunday 24th September 2023: We have reached a tentative agreement on a new 2023 MBA, which is to say an agreement in principle on all deal points, subject to drafting final contract language.
